CITY BOUND Research method 1 Ella mason Me- I believe all people should be treated equally, and the people that are in need get the support they need. I believe Melbourne does not for fill all of these requirements and many people on the street still get discriminated against. The homeless people get treated like they are dangerous, but this isn’t always the case, they could have more to the past story than it looks like, they just need someone to help them get back onto their feet. I believe that Melbourne is not inclusive and this should be changed, everyone should be equal and decimation should be a thing of the past. The ‘normal’ are looked after by everyone, while the ‘different’ ones such as same sex attracted are bullied and discriminated and homeless people are not looked after by those who have daily life needs. Family- My parents and sisters view is similar to mine. They believe that everyone should be equal and discrimination should be a thing of the past. They do not really have anyways of expressing it or showing their concerns they just believe that everyone should be included and not feel threatened by the general public. Whereas my brother doesn’t really have an opinion. He doesn’t really think in ways that express this. If you asked him he would just groan and say “I dunno,” he doesn’t show an interest in this kind of topic. School- Our school believes in social inclusiveness, the three ‘R’s shows that. Our school’s philosophy is the three ‘R’s. They believe that social inclusiveness is important in life. One of the ‘R’s is respect for others; this should be carried out not only in school but in daily life. The ‘R’s have the same principles as social inclusiveness, this then reflects on the school. Our school is aware of social inclusiveness and I believe we do not support it. Friends- My friends obviously have an interest in the subject of social inclusiveness as they were very keen to find out more about this subject by studying it on city bound. My friends have the same views as me. They believe that Melbourne is not inclusive they also believe that this topic should be looked into this topic should be a thing of the past as our city will be inclusive of all. Government- There is an area of the government that would be in charge of social inclusiveness. On city bound we could interview the person in charge and find out what they are doing and if there is more that Melbourne could be doing as a community.

My perception toward Melbourne is this issue is quite strong. I believe that no one should be treated differently due to racism, homelessness or sexuality. I don’t believe that Melbourne is socially inclusive but I do believe that some people are not as socially accepted as what I believe a place like Melbourne should allow them to be. Gay people should be able to walk down the street with their partner and not be abused, not be attacked and frowned apron due to their decision to be homosexual. I would love to know why this still happens and whilst we are up in the city to know how this could be fixed in the future. Along with same sex attracted people there are many other people who I perceive to still be socially exclusive. Different cultures of people are everywhere in Melbourne and that is why I think it is such a great town. But with so many cultures coming together there is going to be cultural differences. Like at the Australian open 2 years ago the Serbians and the Croatians collided. Violence is generally cause my social inclusive people who are sacred of something they perceive to be different and not what they want. That’s really why I want to do this topic to find out is Melbourne inclusive and how do we stop it from staying inclusive.

ME: I personally have always felt sorry for kids that are less fortunate than other people and how people treat them like there nothing and they don’t exist. I can remember one time when I was in Mexico it wasn’t in the best part of Mexico but there were so many families sitting on the streets begging for food or money and you could see how they were so unhealthy and obviously not eating enough to survive. They used a couple of rags to sleep on and that was about it. There were mums that had tiny kids, babies even and they would be on the streets. It was not a great experience to see all of them suffering and just watching people walk by them and not even caring but just getting on with their lives. I felt that sorry for them I cried a lot and never wanted to see anybody like that again. I normally don’t feel as bad with homeless people but it still hurts to see that they wasted their life and can’t even live in a well sheltered area. Instead they have to beg and were the same clothes every day. I just wish that they would have seen other options in life and taken them because it isn’t anybody else’s fault but theirs. Homeless people live a hard life because they have nothing left they have no family to turn to and nothing left so it is really hard to get back on their feet which is really sad to think that there life is going to be like that forever. I have never really taken that much notice to homosexual people. I don’t really interact with them or often see them but when I do see them they do act different to others and they dress differently to what other guys wear. This does not matter to me because it is not my life if he wants to dress differently to other people he can do that there is no one stopping him but people on the street might think differently. There is one guy who goes to my school and he feels very strongly about gay people and made a youtube video on it about how he gets treated with no respect what so ever. How people throw things at him abuse him and give him so much grief about his sexuality. That to me is just sad to think that people would do that to him when one they might not even know the guy and just bag them out because of what they think or what they look like, so I really think that should change.
FAMILY: Jarrahs sister Tahnee has a very strong view on Social Inclusiveness. She has worked with Sudanese people and she is very passionate on people treating each other with respect and not any different to others. My mum loves to help people and she helps out a lot with different needs such as giving blood. I think Tahnee would have a strong point of view on this topic because she obviously wants to help people who are less fortunate and who are in need of some help.
FRIENDS: We could find some people who love working with people that are not as fortunate and a couple of people that have an opinion on social inclusiveness. I think that most of my friends would agree with my point because I know they wouldn’t want to see people who have nothing to suffer and get treated like crap as if they don’t exist.
